About John Wyckoff
Born in the Heartland, John Wyckoff traveled and resided in Iowa, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Oregon and Washington before graduating from Washington State University’s School of Architecture. A keen observer and appreciator of the arts, his serious fine arts studies began at college. There at Washington State, he was befriended by master watercolorist Andrew Hofmeister. Under Mr. Hofmeister’s encouragement and care, John learned a very real appreciation for ‘capturing the moment’, for painting only from one’s own personal experience and the distinction between merely ‘chronicling’ an object and creatively interpreting, developing and ‘presenting’ a subject.
Through Andrew Hofmeister’s nurturing, John found his profession and his art to be inseparable. As a result, applications within his architectural design, paintings and graphics work have led to local, regional and national awards in all three categories. The greatest acknowledgement of his talents lies within the region of his home in the Portland Metro area where his works have refreshed shows and enhanced gallery walls for several years now. A prolific artist, John’s interests are as varied as his subject matter.
Mr. Wyckoff’s personal motivation is his desire to give something back to the ‘community’ at large and specifically to encourage and benefit local charities however and whenever possible. Working with regional not-for-profits John’s artwork is often found in benefit auctions and other charity engagements. Likewise, his work has been shown in Metro area galleries and businesses and are part of many private collections across the country.

“Like so many others, I’ve truly been blessed in life. I simply wish to give it back in some way: my own expression of appreciation.”
